A late 17th century Imperial Chinese yellow (Minghaung) ground hand woven brocade of intricate interlocking lotus scrolls. This design rooted in Ming and early Qing dynasties. Strictly reserved for the Emperor or Empress for high Imperial use. Possibly for throne cushions, alter cloths or garment/robe linings, 66.5cm wide x 52cm high. Condition- elements of the designed brocade threads are showing wear. But remarkably the colours are still strong and unfaded.

A mid 17th century Italian silk polychrome embroidered liturgical scene of the Madonna with Christ the child and infant St John the Baptist. The scene an embroidered interpretation after renaissance master Venture Salimbeni prints. Worked in silk with couched vessel, silver and gold highlights and edgings. Indistinguishable script just visible above the Madonna’s head. The embroidery bordered with silver passementerie and crimson velvet, 43cm x 32cm. Condition; there is wear to the silk in places, with some fading and darkening. Possible restoration and outlining of eyes. The decorative red braiding faded and the crimson velvet worn.

An Italian Arts and Crafts figurative silk polychrome decorative long stitch embroidery cartouche. The translation; “Paolo and Francesca in the garden… that day we read no further in it”. The words embroidered in blue around the central motif, edged in gold thread, the embroidery also high lighted in places with gold thread onto a linen backing, framed and glazed, embroidery 59.5cm square. Condition; there is some dust inside the glass, it may benefit being taken out and cleaned gently as a preservation precaution.

A 19th century needlework sampler by Eliza Watherston, aged 11 years. Worked with a religious verse within a floral cartouche and a large embroidered motif of a basket of flowers below, glazed and framed, sampler 28cm x 36cm. Condition; the fine linen is slightly stained in places and the overall sampler has faded with age and sun. The outer frame is damaged and worn. It would enhance the sampler to be remounted and reframed.

The veil 19th century cream hand made Carrickmacross, worked with a wide border of flowers and buds, with small spots appliquéd on the netting, and a cream silk net skirt panel, with deep needle run border and a length of cream chiffon with rows of silk floral motifs and a deep geometric border, Carrickmacross veil 112cm x 160cm. Condition; the wedding veil has very light rust marks which may soak out. The chiffon panel has a hole which maybe invisibly mended.

A pair of Victorian ladies 1880-1890 soft cream kid leather lace up ankle boots, a matching pair of ladies gloves and a white painted gauze and lace fan. The boots designed with a low heel, leather soles and side lacing cleats. All three possibly for a wedding. Boots 25cm long from toe to heel. Condition; the kid gloves have never been worn, the boots have hardly been worn and are being sold without ribbon laces. The fan has been used and may only need replacement ribbon.

An early 20th century gentleman's collapsible black silk top hat with original red cardboard box. The hat labelled inside; By Appointment, Scott &Co. Hatters to H.M. the King, The Royal Family, 1 Old Bond Street Piccadilly.W. The other top hat being silk plush, often referred to as ‘Moleskin’. The interior hat label: Herbert Johnson, 38 New Bond St, London.W. The box black tall and thin with a leather strap. (2). Silk hat opened: 15.5cm high. “Moleskin” hat 16.5cm high. Condition; The collapsible silk hat has slight wear to the top side rolled edges and two small fine wear holes near the back. Part of the base edge of the box is missing and the top broken, but just still useable. The “Moleskin” hat the black silk has holed on the outer cuff of hat one side and slightly on the top edge, due to handling. The interior leather is stained. The box is worn and top corners broken but still useable.

Two early 20th century umbrellas and a lace parasol unused for many years. The cream silk umbrella, is fitted with a decorative gold metal and blue enamel band and a glass knob handle. The brown silk umbrella labelled on the interior Paragon, S. Fox - Fox + Co limited, is fitted with a large long stylish faux tortoiseshell handle, longest umbrella 94cm. Condition: Some black lace and chiffon on the parasol is tender and slightly torn. The two umbrellas have a few marks, both appear strong but may rip if forced open, neither have been opened to their fullest locking position or used for many decades possibly since the 1930’s till now.

The brocade attached to a shaped gild metal frame and fine chain, with an ornate gilt metal clasp inset with faux pearls, The silk interior with K Shoes label and fixed purse, the evening bag comes with a Aspreys box and cover. The bag not originally sold by Aspreys. Condition; The brocade has darkened with age and has a few light stains from use. The gilt frame has tiny tarnish spots, the interior is clean. The Asprey box lid has been sellotaped and the corner sides of the box are worn.

Three fragment panels of late 17th / early 18th century Italian textiles; including a rare border of hand loomed Cisele cut velvet, a loose silk weave gold and turquoise damask panel and a blue silk velvet Baroque appliqué designed part border. All three were expensive prestigious textiles, reserved of nobility to adorn their castle interiors and for the Roman Catholic Churches of Europe. Cisele border 131cm long x 39cm wide. Condition; The Cisele border is very damaged, patched and worn. The turquoise damask panel has become loose and worn with age, but the colour is still strong and pattern bold. The Baroque part border, is very damaged.

A 19th century Persian prayer mat and an Iranian Qajat dynasty Talismanic intricate hand knitted pouch. The prayer mat made in India for the Persian market, with a blocked printed border and a Mirab prayer arch, the tear drops, embroidered and the fine cream centre quilted, the underside lined in red wool. The Talismanic pouch designed to carry sacred objects, such as scrolls, prayer beads, amulets and astronomical charts, is very finely knitted with coloured and metallic silks. The top having two knitted rows of Quranic verse, the interior lined with fine linen, the mat 54cm high x 37.5cm wide. Condition; The prayer mat has a small mark on the side of the cream quilted centre, which may be professionally removed, the edges of the mat are frayed in places, which can be repaired. The knitted pouch is in good condition and appears hardly used.

(5). Condition: The Aesthetic panel has elements of very fine beading missing from stems of Bluebells and a small leaf. The Morocco leather lining in the clutch bag has marks that will wipe off. A rare early 17th century spot motif sampler. Worked on fine linen with polychrome silks, in minute stitches, in an array of motifs; a Tudor rose, butterfly, caterpillar and snail as a top border and many complex geometric motifs below, some worked in silver or gold thread with fine couching effects, or small drawn thread elements creating a floral lacey effect, all created by a highly skilled female embroiderer of the day, length 49.5cm x 18.5cm wide. Condition: the fine linen backing has discoloured over nearly 400 years and has two small damaged areas, but the embroidery is unaffected by this. The silver and gold thread have tarnished a little, which is to be expected, but the colours of the polychrome silks are still strong. The frame is later with damage to a corner.

An unsigned or dated late 18th / early 19th century fine cross stitch Adam and Eve sampler. Worked on linen, in thin silk coloured threads and fine stitches, with a large central depiction of the serpent in the tree with Adam and Eve either side surrounded by symbolic and decorative spot motifs, sampler 33cm x 20.5cm. Condition; there is damage to the backing linen, either side in the flower urns, luckily the stitching is only very slightly affected and there is fading to certain original colours. Overall the damage is not distracting to the imagery.

The fabrics mostly Victorian and Edwardian patchwork cotton chintz sample pieces, some sewn together ready to use with a similar larger partly made central section of a patchwork cover. All these sample pieces still have there original backing paper. There is also a small bag of original unused scrap fabrics from the period. Central section: 106cm x 114cm. Condition; remarkably good colour and condition, even the larger silk patchwork pieces are not rotten or tender. The bag of sample fabric has a good selection of fabric, they appear to be in good condition.

Together with a pair of ladies leather gloves and a similar pair of children’s soft kid gloves and pair of child’s silk knitted socks, two cotton petticoats, a hand knitted stocking and a net bonnet veil. A late 19th century Uzbekistan or Tajikistan coloured heavy wool and silk embroidered Suzani wall hanging on a fine cotton backing. Handmade, Suzani were given as dowry gifts. This hanging designed in two pieces joined in the centre, the patterns made of multi coloured wools sewn together with coloured chain stitched silk embroidery. The result, a wide multi patterned floral border and two large central Mandala, representing the sun and moon being the cosmic wheel of life, decorated inside with flowers for growth and abundance. 162cm wide x 248cm long. Condition: There are some moth holes and stains in places from use and age, but the colours of the wools and silks are still strong and there is no fading.

An early 20th century continental cream hand bobbin lace and linen bed cover. Worked in panels of linen and ornate drawn thread work, between four wider panels of heavy linen hand made bobbin lace. Finished with a narrower bobbin lace edging. 212cm x 222cm. Condition; The lace in various places has lost its bracts holding the lace pattern together which can be mended easily. The lace border needs re attaching in places. Most of the damage is due to laundering and use.

An early 19th century semi-circular cloak century for the European market, woven on a Jacquard loom. Silk tassels purely decorative. With an Indian 19th century Khana blue silk and gold hand woven short loom panel. The central panel woven on a narrow loom 46cm wide, edged with pink silk, backed in fine gauze. Red cape; 330cm wide x 140cm long. Condition; the semicircular cloak has ware and is holed in places, would benefit cleaning. The brocade is in good condition.

An Edwardian ladies full length summer croquet dress. Designed in a fine cream gauze, with a boned high lace collar and v neck front. The dress decorated with heavy floral cream embroidery, bobbin lace insets and feature tucking. The waist band a wide cream silk ribbon sash with rose sprig embroidery is damaged. 140cm neck/shoulder to base of hem Condition: Sadly the sash has rotted with age but may be replaced with similar ribbon. Once the sash is removed from the dress, the dress would benefit careful cleaning/washing. The fabric and embroidery appear sound, the lace collar delicate. This dress would be useful for a costume drama or repurposed as a wedding dress.

Embroidered with silk pastel coloured birds, blossom and butterflies onto turquoise silk damask, edged with an ornate blue brocade border and rows of blue and green pipping on black silk edging. The front having a decorative cut out flower motif and ornate green toggling. The robe lined in light blue silk. The robe comes with a pair of black silk satin trousers. Front under arm chest 55cm. Back length neck to bottom 80cm. Condition; The jacket appears to be unworn, but needs professional cleaning as has become slightly dirty with age and storage.

A late 1930’s early 40’s black silk chiffon and silk net evening gown. The dress designed with an extended ruched bodice to hips with a full skirt and zig zag inset silk net detail at base, using the same silk net for puff sleeves. Fastening at the back with hooks and eyes and rushed ribboning detail. 152cm from shoulder to hem. 39cm front under arm across. Full length silk satin petticoat has georgette detail to front and back and pink satin ribboned straps. Condition; the under arms are worn badly affecting the rushed bodice and puff sleeves, which would need removing and remodelling as a strapped bodice. The chiffon one side has moth, but can be cut away as there is enough fabric both sides to loose. Petticoat is in good condition and could be worn as a slip dress.
