A large Annamese blue and white dish, 15th / 16th century, of circular form, the centre medallion decorated in underglaze blue, with a chrysanthemum, the border with flowerheads and foliate scrolls, with an unglazed rim, the outer wall with ogee panels, diam.36cm.
The Lammers` Collection of South East Asian Ceramics & Works of Art
The Lammers` Collection was assembled over two decades by Cheng Lammers and her husband Frank around Singapore and on trips to Indonesia in the 1960s and 1970s. The collection mainly comprises of Chinese, Thai and Annamese ceramics from the 12th to 17th centuries including a number of Ming blue and white pieces. Cheng Lammers was a member of the South East Asian Ceramic Society and a founder member of the Ceramic Society of Indonesia and was an academic on the subject with published works including A Glimpse of the Adam Malik Collection (1974) and Annamese Ceramics in the Museum Pusat Jakarta (1974).
At one stage a large part of the collection included in our sale was on lone to the Muzium Seni Asia at the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur and items were shown at a number of the South East Asian Ceramic Society exhibitions in the 1970s. The collection also includes Indonesian and Malaysian furniture and Works of Art. As well as Chinese ceramics, the second part of the collection to be sold in our October sale will also include Malaysian silver, Suma Hinggi Ikat textiles and limited edition reference books.

Postage and packing can be arranged by the Auctioneers and will be charged at cost of postage/delivery plus an minimum charge of £10 for the first Lot and £2 for each additional lot larger items may attract a higher fee Lot. Insurance can be arranged subject to the terms of the carriers. However all packing will be at the purchaser’s risk. Gorringes recommend Mailboxes and Alban Shipping for high value or delicate items.
