A rare George III Orrery, W & S Jones 1794, with a 1.5 inch globe with hand coloured engraved gores showing Tasmania as a peninsula in New Holland, on a multi-wheel geared mechanical movement, with central brass sun ball and ivory planets with brass pointer, on a circular oak platform printed with zodiac and calendar scales and detailing the solar system and a table of the principal affections of the planets, also decorated with two cherubs, each holding a cartouche inscribed `Designs for the New Portable Orrery by W. Jones and Made and Sold by W & S Jones, 30 Holborn, London, together with a smaller portable Orrery inscribed `A New Portable Orrery Invented and Made by W. Jones and Sold by Him in Holborn, London, with hand coloured engraved paper dials, calendar and zodiac scales giving the seasons, solstices and equinoxes, with a central brass sun ball and brass arms with ivory planets painted for day and night, all housed in an original case

Postage and packing can be arranged by the Auctioneers and will be charged at cost of postage/delivery plus an minimum charge of £10 for the first Lot and £2 for each additional lot larger items may attract a higher fee Lot. Insurance can be arranged subject to the terms of the carriers. However all packing will be at the purchaser’s risk. Gorringes recommend Mailboxes and Alban Shipping for high value or delicate items.
