DU MAURIER, DAPHNE (1907-1989) - Two typed autographed letters, from Menabilly, Par, Cornwall, being correspondence of a young reader Michael Banks, aged 15. The first dated Feb.16th 1966 reviewing the origins and characters in her book [her first novel] ""The Loving Spirit"", the penultimate paragraph stating ""I met my late husband [General Sir Frederick ""Boy"" Browning] through the writing of this book. He was so charmed with the story, he came down in his motor-boat to explore the district, guessing it was Fowey and Polruan combined, and introduced himself to me. We became engaged shortly afterwards, and were then married at Lanteglos church. So the story has many very happy memories for me."" The second, 2 page letter, dated August 26th 1966, relates to names and places mentioned in her book, as above, and includes pen sketches of a map. Both letters with stamped, addressed envelopes.
